Prof. Devinder Singh (Delhi)

Prof. Devinder Singh Ji moved to Delhi at the age of 9, following the division of Punjab. He was brought up in a household full of love for Gurbani and he developed an interest in Kirtan from a very young age. He learned Kirtan from Bhai Kanhaiya Singh Ji and also from Prof Sunder Singh (Dera Sahib Wale) and used to accompany them before forming his own jatha. He had a full time job with the  Northern Territory Railway, New Delhi and retired after 37 years of service. He used to wake up early every morning and go to the Gurdwara to perform Kirtan first, and then he would come home to get ready for work. He has traveled extensively to many countries such as Iran, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, Thaliand, Canada, USA and more to spread the word of our Gurus. For the past 2 decades or so he has been based in Southall, UK and continues to perform Kirtan for the Sangat in UK.

 

The first set of recordings were recorded in Leeds and Prof. Devinder Singh Ji was accompanied on the side harmonium by Bhai Hardev Singh from Amritsar, who also used to accompany Bhai Amar Singh (Delhi).
