Bhai Anand Singh Ji, son of Bhai Nanu Singh Ji hails from the northern Indian state of Rajasthan. He took his early lessons in music and Gurbani from his elder brother, Bhai Partap Singh Ji. Later on, he moved to New Delhi and continued to learn Kirtan from renowned Kirtani, Bhai Charanjit Singh Thawar.
In 1980, when Bhai Amar Singh Ji (Delhi) went on a tour to Canada, he took Bhai Anand Singh along to accompany him on the side harmonium. Upon their return to Delhi, Bhai Anand Singh formed his own ‘jatha’ with Bhai Darshan Singh on the side harmonium and Bhai Harbans Singh on tabla. They were hired by Delhi Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to perform Kirtan duties at Gurdwara Sees Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.
Bhai Anand Singh Ji visited Canada again in 1984, this time with his own ‘jatha’. In November 1986, he made a trip to the United States of America and performed Kirtan at Richmond Hill Gurdwara, New York. In 1987, he received an offer to serve at Singh Sabha at Bowne Street, Flushing in New York. He has been delighting the Sangat of New York with his Kirtan since then. Although, he has retired from his duties, he still performs Kirtan in the form of service.
